EVE Missions - Finding that special someone (Or Agents)
In EVE, NPC Agents (those men and women in the bad suits working on behalf of NPC corporations and factions) give missions to impoverished new players and to old hand veteran players a like. Each agent has a category of mission type associated with them, a quality level and a level as well. The breakdowns of the mission categories are discussed in a different post on mission, the only exception to this is the ‘Storyline’ agent. The levels and quality levels however, I will discuss here.
‘Storyline’ Agents
Want some standing quickly? Well to get it you need to do story line missions. These are special in that you only get 1 per 18-20 normal missions you complete, but the standing bonus you recieve from doing them, not to mention the rewards make it all worthwhile.
Finding Agents
To find agents follow the instructions below.
- To find ALL agents in EVE who will work with you, F10 (universe map) / right click / display settings menu / stars / my agents. The green dots are agents that will talk to you. Move mouse over a dot for information on the agents in that system.
- To find agents to work with in a specific corporation, pull up the corporation’s information (search People & Places, or [show info] in the station they own), and check out the ‘agents’ tab. It shows agents in the corp by division.
- You can find what agents are available by looking at your charactersheet, under standings. Right click on the Corp and select owner info and then look under the agent tab
Agent Levels
The levels as they are relatively straight forward.
Level 1 Agents - Gives missions out to all and give you poor rewards basic goto guy. He is who you will see when you start the game and he is who you will be pointed at when you start to work for a new faction or corporation until you prove yourself.
Level 2 Agents - So you got your standings up, well done, I hope you now have a cruiser, cause you’ll need it for most of the missions that get thrown your way by this boy. The missions are similar to the level 1 counterpart but boy are they harder to do. Tougher opponents, more of them and bigger loads to haul.
Level 3 Agents - Well the rewards are getting good here and your standings should be fairly high. You’ll need either a tech 2 ship or a battleship to handle most of these missions though.
Level 4 Agents - Got a battleship? Good, now you need some friends with battleships. Trust me, you’ll need em to successfully complete these….
Quality Levels
Ok Quality Levels…. Well with each standard level of agent you will note a quality range between -20 and 20, well folks heres how it works the rewards from a -20 quality agent are a hell of a lot worse than a 20 quality agent.
However a level 2 quality -20 agent is way better in rewards than a level 1 quality 20 agent.
To get access to better quality agents you need to get your standings with the faction or corporation up. You can only do this by doing missions! The general forumla for working out what standing you require to gain access to an agent if a specific quality and level is listed below.
F=2(A-1)+0.05Q
(A=Agent level, F=standing, Q=Quality)
e.g. 1) To gain access to a level 2, quality 0 agent. I need:
- F=2*(2-1)+0.05*0
- F=2*(1)+0
- F=2
e.g. 2) To gain access to a level 3, quality 12 agent. I need:
- F=2*(3-1)+0.05*12
- F=2*(2)+0.6
- F=4.6
